On September 25, 2024 Jonathan had a colonoscopy which revealed that he had a tumor in his rectum which was highly suspicious for cancer. Since then we have been navigating getting more tests, including a CT scan and MRI which both concluded that the cancer hasn’t spread to the rest of his organs. This is such good news as it makes the cancer much more treatable!
We have met with specialists that will be a part of his tumor board that will meet in the next coming weeks to discuss what treatment is best for his case. There is still another imaging that needs to be done to better determine the stage of his cancer but it is somewhere in the stage 2 or 3 range. Once the tumor board meets and determines the best course of treatment we will find out if he will either have surgery first, or chemotherapy and radiation and then surgery.
We are thankful for all our friends and family who are walking with us in this new journey of Jonathan's rectal cancer diagnosis. We are trusting in Jesus to help us each step of the way. We know we live in a broken world where cancer can develop. We know that we are not promised an easy life here and now. But, we are thankful that we trust in a Savior who will carry us through this and will one day make all things right.
